Valuable Vegetables from the estate of Bunny Melon, recently auctioned off by Sotheby’s
“It’s an era of elegance that may not come around again,” said Jose Reynoso, an art handler for Sotheby’s, as he stood before a cabinet of Chelsea porcelain soup tureens in the shapes of vegetables, like a cauliflower (sale price: $43,750) and two heads of romaine lettuce (sale price: $ 27,500), placed just beside a pile of porcelain pea pods. Sale prices include the buyer’s premium.
